Social Ministry Programs

  YWCA Family Crisis Center:  We supply children's clothing, baby layettes, blankies for backpacks, toys and books. We provide them with birthday gifts such as baby dolls and wooden toys. For the older kids we give them a gift certificate to the Mall. We also supply them with produce and sometimes food from parties or dinners from church groups. Beautiful handmade quilts are made for the beds. Each mother takes a quilt with her when she leaves the shelter. Each child gets their own  backpack, a long with note pads crayons and a toy. This is their very own. We also make sleepwear for the children.
 
   Other programs:  We supply dolls and toys for the Pueblo Child Advocacy Center for children that are abused.
 
   We make up baby layettes for four agencies. They are       Co Operative care, Y.W.C.A.Family Crisis Center, Los Pobres, and Catholic Charities. The women make receiving blankets, crib sheets and afghans. In the layettes we provide diapers, wipes, infant sleepers, crib sheets. Blankets, and each bag has a stuffed bear or rabbit.
 
   We provide dolls and toys for the terminally ill children at the Sangra De Cristo Hospice.
 
   We are donating clothing, food, baby layettes, blankets, toys and plastic bottles to Los Pobres (Sister Nancy) migrant workers . We have hauled produce all summer to help feed the workers and their families.  We were able to donate 800 toys for their Christmas.
 
   We provide underwear and socks for the children who arrive at the Y.W.C.A. Family Crisis Center who arrive with very little. We provide the center with quilts and backpacks for the children. Each child receives a backpack with a blankie, tablet, toys, pencils and etc. We also provide a birthday gift for each child who is having a birthday, while at the center.
 
   We are looking for volunteers who will crochet baby afghans and doll clothes, or help make wooden toys, sew sleepwear, baby blankets, and baby clothes. We will provide the yarn, material, dolls and wood. Our outreach programs are directed to help children who are in need in Pueblo. We are always looking for donations of yarn, wood and dolls in good condition, as well as back packs.
